Grey Ghost

Detroit, US

Named after a notorious Prohibition-era rum runner who worked to keep Detroit supplied with boozy beverages during the dry years, Grey Ghost is a local favourite for its meat-centric menu and creative seasonal cocktails. Beverage Director Will Lee (formerly of Standby, Selden Standard and Wright & Company) approaches the drinks menu with an eye on classic frameworks but with the goal of updating those familiar and nostalgic touch points into inventive, thought-provoking originals. An array of housemade bitters, liqueurs and infusions made with fresh local produce make up his ingredient arsenal. Try the Pinky Promise – a mix of grapefruit, elderflower, aperol, lemon and the guest's choice of gin or vodka, which has been on the menu since day one – or one of the bar’s notably delicious alcohol-free options to get a sense for how this bar distinguishes itself from the pack in Motor City.
