The Beverly Hills Hotel

Los Angeles, US

A visit to the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel is a visit to Tinseltown’s golden era. A long, palm lined driveway provides entry into the manicured 12-acre property and reveals architect Paul Revere Williams’ salmon hued deco hacienda. Revere was known for designing homes for the stars and, at BHH, Williams created a second home for his glamorous clientele. The Pink Palace proved so popular that when a new city incorporated two years after the 1912 opening, the municipality borrowed the Beverly Hills name, along with the resort’s recognizable script logo. Many of the stylish guests are regulars and many of the sharply uniformed staff also tout decades of work at the hotel. The combination creates a warm, congenial atmosphere. Old school sensibilities continue to meet Californian comfort in the 210 Alexandra Champalimaud rooms and suites as well as the 23 bungalows. Custom made amenities from Natura, Bang & Olufsen full-room remotes, and Frette linens bring modern touches to the rooms. The cabana-studded pool scene offers a palace to lounge after visiting the celebrated spa. The campus also offers four options to sip or sup. The Polo Lounge is an institution, favoured by Hollywood powerbrokers, locals and Hunter S. Thompson.
