Bacchanal

New Orleans, US

One of the best all-day hangouts in New Orleans, Bacchanal is a Bywater paradise where “food, music and culture collude with Holy Vino”. What started as a small corner wine shop in a 19th-century-era house in 2002 has since expanded into one of the city’s best backyard parties, after hurricane Katrina spurred weekend chef pop-ups as a means to get the community back on its feet. Now, a global wine collection is the star of the show, pairing well with a svelte list of light Mediterranean food (including build-your-own-cheese-plates). There’s no bad seat in the house when you can gather with friends at one of the relaxed courtyard tables to watch jazz bands groove on the ground floor stage; or take a higher perch from the upstairs balcony with one of the simple-but-delicious craft cocktails in hand to watch the action unfold below.
