Nine Orchard delivers all the joys of living in Manhattan’s historically bohemian Lower East Side, without any of the dirt. The high/low juxtaposition is apparent immediately upon check in, when sharply-dressed staff introduce guests to one of the 113 rooms and suites. Each room is numbered with an alphanumeric code like an NYC apartment (3F, 3G, etc.) Behind the matte, white doors you'll find an airy minimalist motif, like a neighborhood loft. The local links are driven home by local snacks and spirits in the minibar along with OJAS speakers that play custom NYC-themed radio stations curated by DJs Stretch Armstrong and Devon Turnbull. However, the greatest homage to Gotham is the picturesque view of the city skyline, replete with rooftops, water towers and fire escapes. Downstairs, Nine Orchard tips their fedora to the LES’ ballyhooed nightlife. The Swan Room occupies the painstakingly restored lobby of a historic bank. Beneath an ornate, 50-foot vaulted ceiling, the cool crowd mingles and sips on craft cocktails. Igancio Mattos of 50 Best Discovery-recognised Estela heads up the food program at the adjacent Dining Room. The menu in the splendid neo-Renaissance space features classic French preparations of fresh seafood.
