Din Tai Fung has come a long way since it began as a mom-and-pop restaurant in Taiwan in 1958. Although it now has hundreds of restaurants throughout Asia and four in Dubai, it never lost its local feel, great value and insistence on quality home cooking. You can order a basket of six pillowy dumplings with homemade dough and all-natural fillings and still have change from a ten dollar note ̶ and there aren’t many consistently tasty restaurants in Dubai you can say the same about. Their signature serve is xiaolongbao (dumpling soup) and it really is a classic for a reason: salty, satisfying and with just the right amount of elasticity.
