Copacabana Palace, A Belmond Hotel is the centennial crown jewel on the world's most iconic beach since 1923. The fascinating history of the hotel begins with its construction in 1923, an initiative of the entrepreneur Octávio Guinle, who received the suggestion from the then President of Brazil, Epitácio Pessoa. Guinle hired the renowned French architect Joseph Gire, who drew inspiration from magnificent European hotels such as Le Negresco in Nice and the Carlton in Cannes to create this architectural gem. Throughout its 100-year history, the hotel has been the stage for important historical and cultural events, receiving illustrious visits from kings, queens, presidents, and icons of the past and present.
