Bar Bello

Fittingly located in Montreal’s historic Little Italy, Bar Bello is dedicated to the art of the aperitivo. It certainly looks the part – it wouldn’t be out of place in Milan – with warm colours, dark leather, wood panels and chequered tile floor. The drinks are unerringly authentic, with an extensive amaro and vermouth collection adorning the bar. These are used to make classic aperitivi and digestivi, everything from garibaldis to sbagliatos and negronis too, of course. There’s also a list of house cocktails, such as the rum-based Tiramisu, or the Petite Italie that blends cognac, sweet vermouth, cynar and maraschino. To accompany, charcuterie and cheese boards are perfectly paired with the drinks, as are a selection of Italian cicchetti-inspired bites. Kevin Demers, of other Montreal bars such as The Coldroom and El Pequeño, is behind this immersive slice of Italy along with Benny Bello, of Bello Deli.
