8 Restaurant is named for China's luckiest number and is set within Cairo's glitzy Four Seasons at Nile Plaza hotel, serving high-end Chinese cooking to the city's great and good. The opulent dining room is decked out with marble walls, lacquered floors, rich purple upholstery and outsized chandeliers and looks out across the Nile, but there's no doubting that the main event here is the food. From plump, delicately-wrapped steamed dim sum to juicy Peking duck with tissue-thin pancakes, the classics are all on offer alongside more unusual dishes like paper-wrapped fish with Chong Qing sauce and a black truffle and minced beef fried rice. There's also a dedicated dim sum brunch every Friday, which we think is the perfect way to wrap up your week.
