Billed as an agave-friendly bar, the team behind this Helsinki aren’t kidding – two of the three Negroni twists on the list are made with either tequila or mezcal. In fact, there’s no gin to be had here at all. Ring the doorbell for entry and you’ll be admitted to this cosy, welcoming space with comfortable, mismatched furniture. All those agave spirits really shine through the bar’s cocktails, such as the La Catrina Flip, with mezcal, stout, coffee tequila, Frangelico, egg yolk and cacao. The bar’s other speciality is cheese, which brilliantly makes up most of its snack menu. Perhaps the best way to experience Chihuahua Julep is through its Surprise Cocktail Menu, starting with an aperitif-style drink, followed by a main-course cocktail. An interlude for some cheese leads you to the final course, a dessert cocktail. There’s a non-alc surprise menu available too. Just don’t take any pictures – the bar is a strictly mobile phone-free zone, even for paying your bill.
