Behind the arched windows of the original Byantine facade are grand, high-ceilinged rooms, complete with Mid-century furnishings, sparkling chandeliers, grand pianos and a gallery’s worth of contemporary art. On the ground floor, the all-day restaurant serves up Venetian and international cuisine with a focus on small plates which, when plenty are ordered, offer a showstopping feast: snag a spot on the terrace for glittering water views. In the subterranean spa, art is much of a focus, with treatments taking place under a ceiling made up of intervoen knots that rise up from the ground like tree trunks – a permanent installation by artist Victoria Zidaru.
