GohGan

Fukuoka, Japan

A collaboration between Fukuoka master chef Takeshi ‘Goh’ Fukuyama and his long-time industry friend, Indian chef Gaggan Anand, this 55-seat restaurant in the canal city’s striking 010 Building borrows the cuisine-blending brilliance of Fukuyama’s former establishment – the now closed La Maison de la Nature Goh – and pairs it with the know-how of two chefs whose solo ventures in Japan and Bangkok have repeatedly ranked in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. Inside the glitzy riverside address, you’ll find a restaurant that feels a little like dining in an elegant city apartment: a pale wood open kitchen faces out into a pared-back dining space, with a outdoor terrace glimpsed beyond floor-to-ceiling windows. The casual à la carte menu whips between French, Indian and Japanese dishes, so expect pani puri, shrimp in a rich bisque cream and roast Kyushu black beef with tongue-tingling spiced potatoes. A more affordable dining experience than Fukuyama’s intimate Goh restaurant, housed in the same building, GohGan’s multi-dish omakase offering is truly unique.
