Cultiva, Nairobi’s farm-to-table bar and restaurant nestled between shipping containers and surrounded by lush greenery, is as progressive as they come. Fresh, organic produce is sourced directly from Cultiva’s farm and drives what features on the hyper-seasonal menus, while sustainability initiatives go beyond the management and upcycling of waste–of which there is minimal–with community and young talent also fostered through Cultiva’s various programmes. The cocktail menu is expansive, with an unsurprising culinary focus given the bounty of ingredients at their disposal. The bar makes its own lacto-fermented sodas, such as passion fruit, as well as a selection of clarified and signature cocktails, like the uplifting Watermelon Paloma. And guests would be remiss to pass on signature dishes like the kingfish ceviche salad and Korean fried chicken tacos, with vegetarians and vegans also covered with Cultiva’s popular vegan chicken.
