Le Quatorze
Casablanca, Morocco
A smidge back from Casablanca’s coastline, in a neighbourhood known for its diverse food scene, Le Quartorze is a favourite with locals in the know, with a simple tagline reading ‘a restaurant from two sisters in love with cooking’. You could easily miss the charming art deco family villa it’s found within, but the locale sets the tone for the warm welcome you’ll receive. Inside, a brocante-chic, mid-century aesthetic provides a misleading backdrop to the superlative French-leaning cuisine that emerges from self-taught chef Zineb’s kitchen. Served on vintage porcelain from the family’s cupboards and crafted from market produce, it’s modern BoBo home cooking at its best. Refined, feminine plates emerge showcasing the likes of flash-cooked foie gras with fig, goats’ cheese and candied tomatoes with pine nuts, quail asisde caramelised apple and silken egg with asparagus and hazelnut. Vegetables are honoured as they might be by modern French greats like Alain Passard, and, as you’d imagine from the coastal post
