Doha’s scimitar-shaped Katara Towers represent an architectural marvel; inside the landmark building, Raffles created a marvel of hospitality. Designer Marcel Wanders’ design impresses with arches, intricate masonry and latticework. The modern facade is supported by Raffles’ dedication to traditional white-glove service from bellperson to butler. Inside the 132 spacious suites, the experience continues with handcarved ceilings, sensorial showers and custom mattresses. The space’s twin centerpieces are a jewelry box dressing area resembling a giant trunk flanked by a walk-in ‘maxibar’ including a bean-to-cup espresso machine. In the lobby, Malaki offers a famed tea and coffee programme. Fine dining is provided by Crippa, the first foreign venture from Italian culinary star Enrico Crippa of Piazza Duomo in Alba. The menu spotlights his native Piemonte via wines, technique and a truffle ‘library’. The literary themed Blue CIgar bar is also a destination unto itself. The onsite library boast over 6,000 volumes including 200 first editions, along with the proper gloves and magnifying glasses for handling. One of the world’s best cigar libraries paired with cuban bites and smoked cocktails provide a digestif after reading.
