Everyone in New York knows that Four Horsemen is one of the city’s best wine bars, so the hype surrounding Nightmoves was well earned. In a radical departure from most contemporary cocktail bars in the city, the place is a tiny – 75 capacity – dance-club packed with serious high-energy vibes (did somebody say vinyl-only DJ setup? Yes, yes they did), which are underscored by high-concept cocktails created by the talented Orlando McCray. The Tacoma transplant has curated a tight backbar featuring spirits that express a distinct sense of terroir (think agave, brandy and rhum), eschewing major labels in favour of distillates made by small producers. Naturally, thanks to its connection to Four Horseman, there is also a considerable selection of hip natural wines.
