From the outside, this Arts District restaurant looks as unassuming as any restaurant you might find in one of LA’s many neighbourhoods, but inside, Baroo offers one of the city’s most exciting tasting menus. With a focus on contemporary Korean cuisine, couple Kwang Uh and Mina Park bring iconic flavours together in inventive ways, often employing fermentation techniques to explore new takes on traditional cuisine. The drinks menu is just as electrifying, with a collection of Korean beverages including soju, makgeolli and yakju, plus an ample selection of low-and-no drinks. The minimalist space –featuring exposed ductwork, concrete floors and moody recessed lighting – keeps the focus on what’s on the plate, but diners in-the-know opt for the chef’s counter seats for a front-row view.
