Modern New American cuisine is the name of the game at this downtown Los Angeles restaurant, where a smart collection of cocktails designed by barman Tobin Shea has drawn guests to the former church since 2015. A high-end destination where celebrity sightings are not out of the ordinary, the bar itself is a beautiful horseshoe-shaped centrepiece of one of the light-soaked dining rooms. Shea's approach to creating cocktails lands in revamped classics territory: while they might not be immediately recognisable as such on the menu, each drink has its roots in a traditional 19th or early 20th century recipe. With brunch, happy hour and a regular cocktail menu all available, there's never a bad time to pop in for one of the top-notch drinks.
