Günaydin Restaurant

Adliya, Bahrain

Difficult to believe that this impressive high-end restaurant has its origins in a simple butcher’s shop in the historic Bostanci neighbourhood of Istanbul. The family has come a long way since 1965 and after opening 40 restaurants in Turkey alone, Günaydin has finally arrived in Bahrain. Housed on the ground floor of the Terminal building in Adliya, this beautiful space with grand pillars, mirrored walls and cool marble gives you Art Deco meets Turkish palace. To style this as a just a steak and kebab house is to totally misrepresent Günaydin; both beef and lamb are of the very highest quality but there is also a large range of both hot and cold mezzes on offer. Turkish bread baked in traditional clay ovens and a towering Gaziantep baklava flown in specially every week complete the picture. Oh, did we forget to mention their hand-stretched, addictively chewy Turkish ice cream?
