Masso

Adliya, Bahrain

Award-winning Milanese chef Susy Massetti cooked up the concept of this seasonal, Italian fine diner and it has remained a pillar of Manama’s restaurant scene ever since. Located in the Place Boutique Hotel and now overseen by chef Steven Gilles, its focus is farm-to-table favourites such as truffle and mushroom tortellini, saffron and prawn risotto and wood-fired pizza with pleasingly elastic crusts. Although the pastas and salads could be eaten alone, plates are designed to be shared resulting in a relaxed, lively atmosphere. Of course, the crowd does feature hotel guests but you’ll also find groups of glossy haired locals outside on the terrace sharing drinks and creative nibbles that include salmon eclairs and a signature dish of tomato arancini with goats cheese cream. Hosting an event? The private dining room is an elegant venue with its white tablecloths and botanical drawings.
