Few female chefs have risen to the ranks of Stéphanie Le Quellec. In a male-dominated industry where only a small percentage of Michelin-starred restaurants are headed up by women, Le Quellec has not only achieved one star but two, and she’s done it twice. At her first restaurant, La Scène, Le Quellec’s highly personal cuisine is both generous and delicate, inspired by her own life experience as a chef and mother, as well as her ties to various regions of France, namely Paris, Normandy, Brittany and Provence.Signature dishes are of course refined but also luxuriously comforting, such as caviar French toast with crème crue and sorrel, Mona Lisa potatoes with the juices of a bouillabaisse, and the vanillas dessert of Tahitian vanilla in crème brûlée and roasted Madagascar in ice cream. Although it’s the underground restaurant which boasts the stars, plus an open kitchen for a view onto the 'scène', the upstairs bistro offers an informal taste of Le Quellec’s cuisine, plus a steal of a three-course lunch menu at 49€.
