Mamo Michelangelo

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The French Riviera arrived in Riyadh in 2020 in the form of Mamo, a Provençal-influenced Italian housed in the Al Faisaliah Hotel. An offshoot of Mike “Mamo” Mammoliti’s 1992-opened, family-run bistro in Antibes, the eatery is infused with the same DNA as the original. Its dining room is decked out in terracotta floor tiles, elegant, wrought iron chairs with cream cushions, mature lemon trees and the lunch and dinner menus are comprised of the same tried-and-tested family recipes – albeit many of the ingredients are now locally sourced. The burrata, however, is imported from Napoli, and, along with a basket of the in-house-baked focaccia, makes an excellent precursor to signature dishes such as lamb shoulder slow-cooked in the wood-fired oven, earthy truffle raviolinis and roasted chicken. Round things off with the traditional tiramisu paired with a stellar Italian coffee.
