The Carlyle
New York, US
- No.30 The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024
Since her 1930 opening, The Carlyle served as the ‘NY White House’ for six US presidents and as an eastern home for the Hollywood set. Despite the cosmopolitan clientele, this Rosewood property is a quintessentially New York experience. Stepping into the tower feels like coming home - if home was a luxury tower on the desirable Upper East Side. The traditional butlers treat every guest like a resident and the immaculate marble lobby creates an intimate feel. The ground floor also houses your new local bar, the legendary Bemelmans Bar. The banquette filled room was decorated by its namesake, Ludwig Bemelmans, author of the Madeline books. Over 75-years-old, the jazz bar remains en vogue today, regularly appearing everywhere from Sex in the City to TikTok. A second act is offered by the adjacent Cafe Carlyle, a revered cabaret theatre. Upstairs, the 189 rooms and suites are the classic City apartment you always dreamed about. Tastefully decorated rooms feature a splash of mid century modern mixed with vintage NYC themed touches like art and books. The bathrooms are patinated in a striking veined marble and offer Kiehl’s and Diptyque products.
