The ever-popular UK-based San Carlo group has now expanded into Saudi Arabia, with San Carlo Cicchetti sites in both Jeddah and Riyadh, along with a further restaurant Signor Sassi in Riyadh. In this instance they're bringing their luxe take on Italian small plates – inspired by Venetian bacaros to a glamorous dining room, with marble-topped tables and umbrella-style light fittings adding a touch of whimsy. Dishes are designed to be shared, with plates like Sicilian arancini stuffed with risotto rice, slow-cooked beef ragu and mozzerella cheese, or ricotta and burrata ravioli alongside larger dishes such as bone-in veal Milanese and even a selection of pizzas. When it comes to drinks there's a dedicated aperitivo list alongside a selection of Mojitos and a choice of classic cocktails like the iconic Espresso Martini.
