Anne-Sophie Pic
Lausanne, Switzerland
The eponymous Anne-Sophie Pic (World’s Best Female Chef in 2011) has transplanted all the magic of her family’s Valence restaurant, Maison Pic, to Lausanne, installing Paolo Boscaro, who trained at Paris’ Carré des Feuillants, at the helm. The Beau-Rivage Palace setting – overlooking the serene waters of Lake Geneva – oozes luxury. An à la carte and two ‘Emotions’ tasting menus incorporate local produce in imaginative, indulgent creations. A $95 business lunch offers easy access to Boscaro’s generous, seasonal gastronomy. The whole operation is ably supported by sommelier Edmond Gasser, who presides over one of Europe’s largest wine cellars, which stocks about 75,000 bottles.
